Roger Lomas embarks on 60th season.

Invitational game to celebrate.
Roger Lomas celebrated the 60th anniversary of his first game for Sheffield Hockey Club with an invitation game followed by a buffet for the teams and invited guests.
The picture shows the teams with a mixture of current members and a number of returning players - how many do you remember ?.

The only other time Roger had played to together with his son and grandson was at a charity event in Warwick in 2017.
The game was largely existing members against mainly returners , with Roger with the returners .
it was even first half with Tom Lomas opening the scoring with a crisp shot , and Roger adding a second from a Jeremy Ferriera cross .Tom Cooper pulled one back to make it 2-1 at half time.
unfortunately Tom had a knock and couldn’t carry on in the second half. He took over from Alex as umpire and Alex deputised until he and Rob had to go and prepare for the 1st team game that followed which allowed the returners to create more attacks, David Lomas added a third from a follow up after a good move down the right . So that meant a Lomas family hat trick ! Neither Roger or David think they scored all last season. The returners continued tp create more chances which were converted by Paul Hardy , Tom Lomas and Hazel Green. Making it a 6-1 advantage at the end. Isacc Berry made some good saves to keep the score down but existing members did create chances which were well dealt with by Laurie Wildman.
Richard Danson was able to have a small cameo appearance towards the end.
